The Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Department of Zhongzheng Senior High School was established in August 1981. Located in Qianzhen District, the area is known for its fishing port, export processing zone, Dream Mall, and Sanduo Shopping District, providing graduates with ample opportunities to excel in their careers.
Currently, the department offers six classes in the day school and three classes in the evening practical skills program, totaling nine classes. With the support of alumni and parents, the department continues to grow and thrive.
Technical Skills
The curriculum of the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Department emphasizes foundational knowledge in electrical and electronic engineering and practical skills in refrigeration and air conditioning. Key courses include basic electricity, electronics, principles of refrigeration and air conditioning, refrigeration and air conditioning engineering, and maintenance of refrigerators, air conditioners, and central air conditioning systems.
(1) Emphasis on Skills and Further Education
In addition to regular academic teaching, the department places strict demands on practical training, especially in fundamental electrical techniques and refrigeration and air conditioning skills. Students are equipped with essential competencies and receive extra guidance from faculty and alumni during winter and summer breaks to prepare for skill certification tests. The department boasts a high certification pass rate.
(2) Excellence in Science Fairs and Creativity
Students actively participate in science fairs and invention exhibitions, achieving notable success. The department has won the Kaohsiung Science Fair first prize five times (2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2011), represented Kaohsiung City in national competitions, and secured the national first prize (2004), second prize (2011), and third prize (2002, 2004). It also represented Taiwan in Japan, earning top honors (2004). In 2012 and 2013, students from the department won second place in both the National and Kaohsiung Science Fairs.
2022: Won the National Project Competition first prize.
2023: Secured the National Project Competition first prize for a second consecutive year.

Ice Storage Air Conditioning in Classrooms:
Features internet-controlled schedules for ice storage and melting and automated fan operation based on class schedules. The system incorporates energy-saving concepts and allows remote control via smartphones or computers.
Chilled Water Systems in the Administration Building:
Includes parallel control for chillers, secondary pump frequency adjustment, and space-time management for enhanced energy efficiency. Remote control is also available.
