TIME MANAGEMENT – by Hansel Doan
In this short video clip—we used a scene from Casino Royale, specifically the poison scene. In the poison scene we can clearly see that James Bond is trying to prevent himself from having cardiac arrest. He was attacked with poison and therefor trying to save time for the woman to come in and save him. Through communications with his team—he was able to stall enough time in order to be rescued by the woman who shocks him back alive. He indeed did have a small cardiac arrest at the end but was able to be rescued by the woman. Had he not stalled time, he could very well have died or the very least sustained very bard injuries and permanent damage to his heart and brain even.
In the real-world scenario—it’s probably best NOT to stall as much time. However; seeing him stall enough time to manage his own LIFE for the lady at the end to save him is something very important. This is the same applied in the real world for project management where we see people saving time and doing the necessary stuff first and saving the final tasks needed last. We should be able to efficiently save time and use it to the best of our abilities because time is limited, as shown in this short clip.
TIME MANAGEMENT – by Andrew MacGregor
In the 1986 film Ferris Bueller's Day Off, time management could be considered an ongoing theme. Ferris Bueller's main goal is to skip school and perform a set of activities before a deadline -- that deadline being when his parents arrive home to check on him. In this scene, Ferris Bueller is rushing to get into his bed and appear to be sleeping before his parents open the door. As he lies down in his bed, he notices his stereo is still playing a sound clip of him snoring, which would inevitably lead to a project failure when noticed by his parents.
Estimating his time resources, Bueller comes to the conclusion that he will not be able to run to the stereo, turn it off, and get back into his bed in time before his parents arrive. He quickly assesses other activities that could complete the desired goal within the allotted timeframe. Seeing a baseball sitting nearby, he concludes that he must throw it at the stereo in order to meet his objective in time. The time management factors assessed were:
Sequence activities - In what order should activities be sequenced before the deadline?
Duration estimation - How long will it take to complete the objective with a given method?
Implementing effective time management - Is there a more time-efficient method that would achieve the same desired outcome?
TIME MANAGEMENT - by Matthew Amorelli
I chose this scene as it presents a good scenario where time management is in a life-or-death situation.
In the scene is starts off where everyone is going to bed for the night but then water starts filling up in the room. As the water starts filling up the room the main character, Eggsy starts heading to the door while everyone else is trying to go to the showers to use the showerheads for air. While everyone takes the showerhead and line to the toilets to try to get some air, Eggsy bangs on the door a couple of times which then it does not work as the door is locked. He then goes to the mirror and then brakes open the mirror where the water pushes himself and everyone out as the teacher says well done except that they forgot teamwork.
Time management relates to project management as to always account time in projects because time is a huge factor in a way that it could be a huge constraint to a project or not. As in this case Eggsy and everyone else had a certain amount of time to find a way to get air and get out of there or else they would be dead.
