Mr. Capozzio (Mr. C) is a 2018 graduate of Rittman High School and a 2022 graduate of the Capital University Conservatory of Music, where he earned his Bachelor of Music in Music Education. While at Capital he studied saxophone under Dr. Michael Cox and voice under Professor Sharon Stohrer.
He started his career in the fall of 2022 by teaching 4-6 music and 5-6 choir at McGregor Intermediate School in the Canton City School District for one year and then moved to the Morgan Local School District where he taught 5-8 band, 7-8 choir, and served as assistant high school band director for one year.
He returned home to Rittman in the fall of 2024 to become the new band director at Rittman Middle/High School. He now teaches 5th grade band, 6th grade band, 7th grade band, HS concert/marching band, HS pep band, HS jazz band, HS steel drum band, a general music class, and music theory.
Mr. Capozzio believes in student-first education and giving all students a well rounded music education. He strives to provide students with diverse high quality musical experiences in a welcoming, positive, student centered classroom. He wants his students to enjoy the music making process and help them reach their individual level of excellence. In addition to this, he strives to instill a lifelong love of music in his students and creating well rounded young adults by teaching life skills through music that will benefit them in all paths of life.
Finally, he is a member of the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA), the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honors Society.
Mrs. Szekely is a 2019 graduate of The University of Akron School of Music, where she earned her Bachelor of Music in Music Education. While studying at The University of Akron, she studied clarinet under Dr. Kristina Jones & Dr. Stanislav Golovin and piano under Professor Phillip Thomson.
In 2020, Mrs. Szekely began K-5 music at Rittman Elementary School. She also assists with the Rittman Middle and High School bands.
She is a member of the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA), the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), Delta Kappa Gamma, and Kappa Kappa Psi.
Mrs. Richards is a 1994 graduate of Rittman High School. She was a member of the Rittman High School Band and was a majorette for the 1991 and 1992 marching seasons. She has been involved as a volunteer with the high school band since 2016. She held the office of Band Boosters Treasurer for two years during the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 school years. She has been a staff member since 2021 as the Rittman Marching Band’s Majorette Advisor. As many high school bands opt for flag or dance lines, she hopes to continue to share her love of baton twirling with the majorettes of Rittman.
