Welcome!
Have you ever witnessed someone being bullied in a school environment? Were you ever bullied during school or maybe you heard that one of your friends were being bullied? If so, you are not alone. Bullying is everywhere in schools all over the world. Throughout the last century, the meaning of bullying has changed as to what it is and what actions it includes. Due to the recent increase of technology and social media, bullying can now even take place online. Whether it is physical, emotional, verbal, or psychological, it can affect a child's life for years into their future.
I have come across too many stories of someone's life being changed forever because of bullying, whether it was physically or emotionally. It is not just the victim affected, but the parents, teachers, and others in the victim's life due to having to watch their loved one or student suffer. School is a place every student should feel safe and comfortable at, as it is where they will be for many years. A victim of bullying will no longer enjoy school as a result, and may even be afraid to go. Today, many teachers lack the proper training required to prevent bullying. Many educators tend to ignore their anti-bullying policies, allowing for bullying to continue to take place in their schools. Stopping bullying in schools is not easy, but is something every school should actively work towards through effective anti-bullying policies and teacher training. This way, we can work towards a safer environment where our children will want to go to school without worrying about if they are going to get hurt.
Let's go on a journey as we explore the evolution of bullying, what its meaning is today, and examples of schools who either successfully prevent bullying or need some help.
