AUDITIONS Q & A
What will I have to do for auditions?
Those interested in a lead will need to perform from a script, perform audition choreography, and sing.
Those interested in ensemble only will need to attend the ensemble group audition session only.
How long will my audition take?
About 5-8 minutes for leads. You should arrive 30 min before your time slot in case we run ahead of schedule.'
Who will see my audition?
The judges (two or three outside "musical" people), the 3 directors (Ms. Kwak, Mrs. Groenhagen, and Mrs. Brooks,). We promise all the judges are nice... not scary. :-)
Do I need to come up with my own audition material (script, song, and dance?)
No, it is provided under AUDITION MATERIALS on this website)
Does everyone have to audition to be in the musical?
At this time, those interested in being in ensemble need only fill out the student info form and attend the ensemble session Dec. 3rd after school in the music room
What are CALLBACKS and what does it mean if I get one? What does it mean if I don't get one?
A callback is when someone auditioning is "called back" in by the judges or directors because they want to see them again. It may be because they would like to see them read a different script; it may be because they want them to do something particular such as trying to sing the song in a different way than they originally sang it, or they may want them to read with another person to see how they sound together. NOT getting a callback means the judges and directors do not have any questions about the audition already given.
GETTING a callback does not automatically mean you are getting a part. NOT GETTING a callback does not automatically mean you are not getting a part. Judges may be trying to decide between more than one person for a particular part, or if you aren't called back it may mean you already have a part. PLEASE DON'T READ TOO MUCH INTO CALLBACKS.
When are callbacks?
IF callbacks are needed (sometimes there is no need), they will be the same night as auditions or possibly the next morning. You should keep your phone near you at all times Friday night and Saturday morning in case you are asked to come back in that night or the following morning.
When will the CAST list be posted?
Cast will be posted as soon as possible after auditions are complete. It will be posted on this website under CAST, hopefully by Sunday the 14th at the latest barring any unusual circumstances.
What if I want to audition for a part but I am out of town on audition day?
You will need to talk to Ms. Kwak to see if special arrangements can be made. Do not wait until the last minute to let us know. The earlier the better.
