Speech and Language

Welcome to Memorial School's Speech and Language website.

The goal of this site is to introduce you to and to share information about speech and language development. We have included information on how to make referrals, activities to encourage speech and language development, tips for parents and teachers to support children with speech and language delays, and a list of developmental milestones. The site also gives us an opportunity to introduce ourselves and to acquaint you with our respective roles and backgrounds. So we invite you to browse through the site, call us, or send us an email. We hope the information is helpful and easy to use. We would appreciate any input - take our survey by using this link.

Thanks.

I have been a Speech-Language Pathologist at Memorial School since the 2000-2001 school year. I received my undergraduate degree in psychology at Bates College and my Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology at Teachers College, Columbia University. Prior to beginning my career as a Speech-Language Pathologist I worked at a residential school for adolescents with behavioral/mental health challenges and as a home-based therapist for the May Center. I have always found it a privilege to work with children. I believe that every child has something important to contribute and deserves to be heard. It is important for me as an educator to help children learn to communicate in structured learning activities, play, and in their classrooms with their peers and teachers. I live in Holliston with my husband Tom and our two daughters.

I am one of the Speech-Language Pathologists at the Memorial School currently servicing children from grades pre-k to first grade. I have been working at the Memorial School since 2015. Prior to working at Memorial, I was a Clinical Supervisor at Speech and Voice Therapy Center, a private center based practice. I was also a private Speech and Language Pathologist for many years, servicing young children in their home environments. I received my undergraduate degree in Communication Disorders, with a minor in Special Education, from the University of New Hampshire and my master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Northeastern University. I am primarily a play based therapist and feel that children at these ages learn best and can acquire the necessary speech and language skills they need through guided learning and play based activities. My husband Bill and I live in Norfolk with our seven children, ranging in age from seventeen through twenty three.
