Come join a diverse community of like-minded individuals seeking to make a difference. We are looking at local issues and areas we can advocate for to better our community. We endeavor to be a welcoming and open space where all may feel free and comfortable to discuss material and ideals, to gain a greater understanding of our fellow humankind.
We seek to empower students to take their own steps to activism. To raise awareness of human and civil rights issues, and to educate one another about the intersectionality of worldwide and local struggles for liberation. It is important for the Human and Civil Rights club to be a space in which interpretations of what rights are is held above fear of the discussion at hand. It is imperative, as the very act of free speech is a right upon itself, declared as such in our very constitution.
In the pursuit of this goal, the LBCC Civil Rights Club will endeavor to be a welcoming and open space where all may feel free and comfortable to debate material and ideals, in pursuit of greater understanding of our fellow humankind.
