Raising funds to support “extras” in your program is easier than you think. It can make a big difference in providing resources for recognition and celebration. This section provides some foundational thinking about fundraising and several ideas from districts around the state. Let your creativity lead the way!
Remember to use your best resource…your students! They are extremely creative with how to raise funds and utilize social media to get the word out about your fundraising initiatives.
Plan at least one fundraiser that will align with your school’s guidelines and culture.
Fundraising Letter: Wording relative to seeking funds for Peer to Peer. This letter can be edited to send to other organizations (Rotary, PTO, Honor’s Society, Student Council, etc)
Popcorn Friday!: Peers come together to make and sell popcorn.
Costco Pie Sale: Purchase the pies and sell slices for $2 to staff and students during school lunches
Thanksgiving Dinner at Lunch Sale: Students make Thanksgiving dinner together for a staff luncheon
Mom-to-Mom Sale: Money from the sale is donated to the program
Popsicle Sales: Freezer pops are sold after sports practices to the athletes for a small fee
Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools (UCS) is a powerful resource that accomplishes Peer to Peer goals. Peer to Peer and UCS both result in inclusivity, friendships through a participation model, and acceptance for all students in the school community. Funding is available for all schools that implement UCS.
