The campus map is able to be opened via the sidebar menu.
From the main page, open the sidebar via the menu button in the upper left-hand corner. This will reveal the list of all features within the app.
Select "Campus Map" from the list. You may have to scroll down a bit, it is within the "Campus" header. All other instructions on this page will take place in the Campus Map page.
Note: alternatively, you can get to the map quickly from the home page by selecting it from the bottom of the screen.
The Campus Map page has several ways of selecting a new building in order to obtain directions to it, three methods for doing so are shown below:
Select any desired pin from the map itself. This will bring up a text box with the name of the location you have chosen
Click the name in the text box. You will be redirected to the location's information page, which we will be using in the next step.
Note: The map defaults to the Allendale campus, but the Pew Campus can be selected from a drop-down list on the top of the screen
After clicking, the Meadows' name appears above its pin.
Select the magnifying glass icon from the upper right-hand side of the screen. This will bring up the search feature and allow you to type with your keyboard.
Type in the name or partial name of the location you are attempting to find.
Select the "search" or "enter" key from your keyboard in order to bring up the list of results.
Click the result which you were looking for. Scroll down as needed until you find the location. You will be redirected to the location's information page, which we will be using in the next step.
After clicking the magnifying glass, a search bar appears on the top of the screen.
Note: This section is different for iOS and Android phones, the iOS version has a dedicated building shaped button to select and can skip steps 1 and 2.
Select the three stacked dots button from the upper right-hand side of the screen. This will cause a drop down menu to appear.
Select "Building List" from the drop down menu, this will take you into a list of all buildings the app knows of.
Scroll down the list of buildings and select the one you are looking for. You will be redirected to the location's information page, which we will be using in the next step.
The Building List allows the user to pick from any building the app is aware of.
Both the Map and Directions buttons redirect to the default navigation app, but Directions brings you straight to navigation.
Check that you can see two buttons on the location's information page labeled "MAP" and "DIRECTIONS". If you see these, you are in the right place.
Select the "DIRECTIONS" button to open the location in your phone's default navigation app. From here you can find directions as you normally would, but make sure to set the directions to biking or walking!
Following these instructions, almost any major location on the Allendale and Pew campus should be able to be navigated to. GVSU is a university where it is very easy to have never been to a specific building, so having access to navigation like this could be an invaluable tool to newer students. Some exceptions do apply to what this app can do, however, notably any building that was made after the app was created is not present, such as the Mary Idema Pew Library.
