A medium of exchange is an activity, a topic, or a shared experience that promotes student interaction, engagement, and friendships. In the beginning, adult(s) may have to facilitate medium of exchange activities. Once students are comfortable with each other and a friendship begins to develop they will discover their own mediums of exchange.
With repeated opportunities together, students find they share common interests, including topics they both enjoy, shared classroom experiences, and mutual interests in games and extracurricular activities.
Simply put, medium of exchange activities are just fun things that bring students together. Get creative!

Link Boxes to Facilitate Group Activities - Each LINKS Box is an all-in-one set of materials for a LINKS teacher to use with students for an entire month. This includes connection activities, energizer activities, weekly awards, and a materials list.
Beyond the School Day - During the school year, we focus on connecting students with each other, however, when students are at home, during weekends or breaks, this becomes more difficult. Helping students make social connections with peers remains critical.
