I am a hardworking and passionate individual dedicated to making a positive impact in the fields of secondary-education and higher education. I am pursuing a Master's at Grand Valley with a focus on Higher Education, specializing in College Student Affairs and Leadership. Likewise, I earned my undergraduate degree from Grand Valley State University in Biology and Secondary Education. My educational journey reflects my commitment to fostering educational environments that empower and inspire students.
I am currently working with collegiate student athletes in the LAKER Academic Success Center at GVSU providing insight into successful academic habits and contributing to academic advising. I conduct advising appointments, discuss academic concerns, and guide student-athletes to perform to the best of their ability in the classroom.
I previously worked in Grand Valley's Disability Support Resources Department as a Learning Skills Specialist. In this role, I shaped the academic skills and experiences of students daily through tailored, individual support for their needs. I also created and conducted workshops pertaining to various academic skills associated with high academic achievement.
Adding to my experience connecting with and mentoring students, I taught within Grand Rapids Public Schools in 2022-23. The relationships built with students, sharing the common goals of their success, and teaching a biology curriculum is an experience that I will forever cherish and aim to revisit in some form.
My professional journey is fueled by a genuine passion for relationship building, education (with a particular focus on secondary and higher education), and a love for college athletics. I believe in the transformative power of education and relationships with students and am dedicated to creating inclusive learning spaces where every student can thrive.
