 Mrs. Zeiger’s Math/ English Class

Syllabus

Class Rules:

1. Raise your hand to ask or answer questions.

2. You must have a purpose to be out of your seat. No wandering!

3. Keep your body and objects to yourself.

4. Come to class prepared.

5. Speak in a classroom voice (one level above a whisper).

6. Respect our room, our supplies, and each other.

7. Sanitize your area before leaving the classroom.

Discipline:

1. If the class rules are not followed, you may be given a 10 minute detention at lunch or after school in the classroom.

2. Failure to report to the above detention will result in an office write-up.

3. Other infractions will be addressed as stated in the Student Handbook.

Seating Chart:

1. Seating charts will be used as needed for classroom management. 

2. You will remain in your assigned seat unless the teacher tells you that you may move to another seat.

Supplies:

1. You will need to bring the following supplies to class every day:

   1. Chromebook (charged and ready to go)

   2. A pencil

   3. Calculator for math or chrome book for English

   4. Math or English folder including the materials needed for class

Devices: 

1. Cell phones are not permitted in the classroom unless permission is given by the teacher for educational purposes.

2. Teacher permission must be given EVERY time a student uses his/her device in class.

3. Cell phones brought into the classroom will be placed in the cell phone box. Failure to comply will result in cell phone confiscation and/ or a write-up

Assignments:

1. Students are given plenty of time to finish assignments/projects during class time. However, if a student is absent or does not finish work in class, he/she must finish it on his/her own time and turn it in by the assigned due date.

2. Students may continue to turn in assignments for credit up to one week prior to the end of the grading period. Students will be informed of these dates in advance.

Absences:

1. When absent, it is the student’s responsibility to talk to me about missed work.

   1. That work is to be made up promptly.

   2. See handbook for late work policy.

2. Students will not be given extra class time to complete work missed when absent.

Free Time:

1. Upon completion of classwork, students will be directed to work on missing English assignments. 

2. If students are caught up in English, they will be directed to work on missing work from other classes.

3. If students are 100% caught up in all classes, they will be directed to work on various brain puzzles available in the classroom.

4. Chrome books will NOT be made available for students as an activity once work is finished unless the chromebook is needed to complete work in another class.

Distance Learning (if needed for any reason as directed by administration):

1. Students are expected to be logged in within the first 5 minutes of the classes assigned start time.

2. Cameras will remain on during the entire class unless the teacher states otherwise.

3. Microphones will be on mute unless students are directed otherwise by the teacher.

4. Students will not be allowed to enter a Google Meet unless a teacher is present. 

1. Students who are found in a Google Meet without permission will be given a warning. 

2. If the behavior continues, the student will be given an office write-up.

3. Violations of the use of technology will be addressed according to the technology agreement form and the student handbook.

5. Students will log into the class by: 

   1. Click into the math Google classroom

   2. Click on “classwork”

   3. Click on “meet”

6. Turning in paper assignments electronically:

   1. Take a picture of the assignment using a cell phone

   2. Email the picture of the assignment to their school email

   3. Upload the picture to their Google drive

   4. Attach the photo to the Google classroom

7. Distribution of supplies/ assignments

   1. Turn assignment in via the drop-off box outside the main office on Monday

   2. Supplies will be bagged and labeled with the students name and placed by the drop-off box on Monday. I will contact the student/parent if supplies need to be picked up.

Grading:

1. Students and parents may check grades at their convenience using Infinite Campus.

2. Glasgow Middle School is using the following grade scale:

100-98 A+ 82-80   C+

97-95   A 79-77   C

94-92   A- 76-74   C-

91-89   B+ 73-71   D+

88-86   B 70-68   D

85- 83  B- 67-65   D-

       64-0     F
