Welcome to the Early Social Cognition Lab!
At the Early Social Cognition Lab at Fresno State, we study how young children make sense of their social world. Led by Dr. Megan Pronovost, our research explores how children develop social-group reasoning, including the expectations they form about different groups and the factors that influence their understanding of social relationships.
Our studies focus on children between the ages of 4 and 6 and use engaging, play-based activities to examine how they interpret and respond to social information. During our research sessions, children listen to short stories and participate in simple tasks designed to help us understand their social thinking. We observe their responses in a comfortable, child-friendly setting to gain insight into how early social cognition develops.
Our work is made possible by the participation of families in our community.Â
