Bao Johri has served the CSU since 2018, first as senior director of Planning and Strategic Planning, where she led a change management program, then as interim deputy CIO before assuming her current position as Vice President for IT and CIO at Fresno State. As VP of IT and CIO for Fresno State, Bao leads services and support for more than 25,000 students and 2,500 employees, while managing 85 team members across ten departments, ranging from Academic Technology Services to Network Engineering. In service to the University's mission to boldly educate and empower students, championing student success in all areas is an overarching priority. A one-time elementary school teacher and community college lecturer, she has worked as an IT manager in sectors ranging from real estate to energy.
Marcela received her B.S. in Statistics at the University of Costa Rica, an M.Sc. in Statistics at Iowa State University, and a Ph.D. in the same field from North Carolina State University. She is interested in developing novel statistical methods to address scientific questions related to the environment and turning those experiences of interdisciplinary collaboration into teaching methods for statistics and data science. She has been the co-chair of CODATA-RDA Schools of Research Data Science since 2018, where she has been designing and teaching summer schools for early-career scientists from lower and middle-income countries who want to learn to work with data in their research in reproducible ways.
Andrew works for Assemi Group, doing data analytics with financial data, mostly analyzing local and macro economic conditions, and geospatial data related to farming (e.g., ideal crop locations, pest tracking, etc.). Additionally, Andrew does machine learning with natural language (information extraction and classification) and geospatial data (land cover classification).
Agustin graduated Fresno State, class of 2019, and published work on neural networks for grape detection in photographs. He was the winner of HackFresno 2018, and the winner of the inaugural Project Ignite 2019. Agustin was hired at LinkedIn in Sept 2019. As a Site Reliability Engineer, he use data science as part of a vast toolkit to analyze metrics from millions of nodes to determine the root cause of poor performance. Agustin moved to Nvidia in May 2022 to build cloud infrastructure for our AI teams in Azure, AWS, GCP and Oracle Cloud.
