LDRS 890 Internship Proposal: This artifact portrays the proposal developed for the culminating experience at Baptist Health South Florida (BHSF). The proposal includes an outlined time frame for implementation along with anticipated leader/ship developmental outcomes.
REFLECTION
Included for review within this section is the culminating experience proposal as required for course completion of LDRS 890. This course provides for an internship in organizational leadership. The practical experience outlined is the implementation of DRG-V (Diagnosis Related Group – Validation) which is related to financial reimbursement for inpatient services rendered at Baptist Health South Florida (BHSF).
Based upon the proposal the reviewers will discover there are many To be Determined (TBD) timeframes. This alludes to the complexity and intricate involvement of a multi-hospital system with divergent and sometimes interfaced operating systems attempting to implement a partnership which is also complex and intricate.
The implementation was proposed to be completed in August 2022; however, at the time of this ePortfolio submission the implementation is ongoing. With various delays, unanticipated complications, poor communication from the vendor, and revelation of additional departmental involvement the proposed implementation is highly unlikely to occur before the close of 2022.
Being involved at the forefront of the implementation has been a wonderful opportunity. It has allowed me to become intimately aware of the complexity of the organization I work for, a front row view of the grapple for finite resources, the reality of political considerations, while providing an abundance of networking opportunities.
Thus far within the internship experience I have been able to improve systems thinking through practical and hands-on application, increase my participative leadership skill, increase knowledge of leading change efforts, while becoming more adaptive in my leadership approach.
I look forward to the continued implementation of the DRG-V project. I anticipate this will provide further hands-on experience with systems thinking and change initiatives allowing for further personal and professional development within my current organization.
