Author's Note

Television is something that is such an important aspect to the entertainment lives of millions of people and after seeing how dramatically it has changed in such a short amount of time prompted me to think of its cultural significance. Streaming services have completely changed the game and revolutionized the entertainment world, so I thought focusing on how people conceptualize television now with respect to this new development warranted further study. There was so much research on television habits, changing business practices, and the mediums evolution that informed how I wanted to narrow my own research study.

I feel like understanding how people have potentially redefined or classify television in the modern landscape was important for study because it ultimately provides a somewhat definitive answer for how television is defined by people with the arrival of so many new industry developments. It has been something that I wanted to research to see how the future of the medium is concerned and where this is all going as new streaming services continue to be developed and how they will clash with classic cable and broadcast television. It is my hope that this research study will spark or inspire others to continue this line of research surrounding the impact of streaming services on entertainment. I am still curious to see what the future holds for television and how content will be distributed moving forward. I can't wait to see what new revolutionary and game changing ideas will come in my lifetime.
