The choice to complete my senior thesis project on the topic of social media influencers and sponsorship disclosures was inspired by my interest in marketing communications and the use of social media influencers as marketing tools. Throughout my college experience, I have taken several courses that broadened my perspective of advertising and the creative aspects and opportunities within marketing. This topic was straightforward and clear which allowed me to develop a stronger understanding of my topic. This topic was also something that had a lot of previous research that I explored in depth and strengthened my knowledge surrounding SMI and sponsored content. Through this research, I learned a lot about the elements of marketing through social media influencers and the FTC's impact on this type of marketing. Overall, this topic broadened my knowledge of marketing and advertising and this research provided me with valuable knowledge and insight that will guide me throughout my marketing career.
