The purpose of this course is to provide education specialist candidates or interns and related service providers with in-depth knowledge of educational services for students who have an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Students will evaluate and apply evidence-based practices, behavioral programs and strategies designed specifically for K-12 students with ASD.
All course content will be located on this website. All assignments will be submitted and graded on Blackboard Learn. Check your CSUC WildCat email and other notifications through the Chico State Portal on a regular basis.
This course meets Quality Assurance standards by adhering to the CSU Quality Learning and Teaching (QLT) Instrument Core 24.
Curricular structure and consistency are crucial - students learn to rely on routine and familiar processes, using their valuable energies on acquiring new content learning instead of trying to understand the instructor's intentions.
Access and engagement are essential to creating an inclusive, enjoyable, effective learning community online. The QLT cohort discussions really opened my eyes to user-friendly education technologies.
The QLT checklist outlines high leverage practices that you can deploy for maximum instructional gains, including Student Learning Objectives (SLOs).
We have multiple resources here at CSU, Chico to help with all facets of planning instruction (e.g., TLP, Faculty Development, and OATs)
When equipped with a road map such as the QLT program, it's fun to plan for and deliver quality instruction that both you and your students enjoy.
