Course Description
An overview of the legal system as it pertains to hotels, restaurants, bars, and private clubs with an emphasis on liability prevention particularly in the areas of employment, ADA and civil rights compliance, food service liability, responsible beverage service and the innkeeper/guest relationship.

Student Learning Outcomes
Identify and apply fundamental legal concepts and terminology integral to the hospitality industry.
Analyze and apply the rights and duties of a hospitality operator in relation to their guests and employees.
Develop strategies to prevent and reduce liability through pro-active management, compliance and education techniques.
Important Dates
There are no required in person class meetings in this class. There are no exams in this class but there are weekly assignments plus a final project due during finals week. This is a 16 week course. It begins two weeks after the regular semester classes.
