Online learning is a great option but it’s not for everyone. Success in an online class requires that you be extraordinarily self-motivated and have excellent time-management skills. Take an Online Course Readiness Quiz to help confirm that online learning is right for you.
CCSF uses an online course management system called CANVAS. This is where you will login to the course to access course content. You will need a RAM ID to log in to Canvas. Claim your RAM ID and/or login to Canvas. If you are unable to login after following those instructions, then you can visit the CCSF Online Course Support Center for help.
Note: All materials you need are available on Canvas. You do not need to purchase a textbook. However, if you are planning to take the certification exam to become a certified Food Safety/Protection Manager, you will need to purchase an online exam code from ServSafe and attend an in-person, proctored exam at CCSF. Note that successful certification IS required for continuation in the Culinary Arts Program at CCSF.
There is a fully online version of the ServSafe exam that can be purchased for $99 from ServSafe if you would like to complete certification without coming to CCSF.
