A class week is defined as the period of time between Tuesday at class-time (SPAN 1A: 2:10pm PT; SPAN 1B: 1:10pm PT) and the following Tuesday's class-time. The first week begins the first day of the term/semester. Assignments scheduled for completion during a class week should be completed and successfully submitted by the posted due date.
For the most part, assignments are due on Canvas at class time (SPAN 1A: 2:10pm PT; SPAN 1B: 1:10pm PT); there is a grace period until 3:30pm for most assignments, to allow students who have technical issues to have them corrected and allow submission of assignments.
Some assignments will be due on Fridays, 11:59pm; these are assignments that you will be doing online, either on Canvas or MindTap. Please be mindful of deadlines.
Create a back up file of every piece of work you submit for grading. This will ensure that a computer glitch or a glitch in cyberspace won't erase your efforts.
When files are sent attached to an email, the files should be in either DOC, RTF, TXT, or PDF file formats.
Policy #2: Ground Rules for Online Communication & Participation
General email: Students should use their CCSF email addresses (or contact the professor via the Canvas Inbox) for private messages to the professor and other students. When sending email other than assignments, you must identify yourself fully by name and class in all email sent to your instructor and/or other members of our class.
Please check the Calendario (PDF) and Discussion Forum before you ask general course "housekeeping" questions (i.e. how do I submit assignment 3?; what did we do yesterday in class?). If you don't see your question there, then please use the Discussion Forum on Canvas.
Please start a new thread; everyone will be sent a copy of it in their email, and notified when get log onto our page that you have posed a question.
Additionally, you can post a question in the chat room; again, you should answer each other's questions.
Help each other out!
Online threaded discussions are public messages and all writings in this area will be viewable by the entire class or assigned group members.
Online Instructor Response Policy: Online Instructors will check email frequently and will respond to course-related questions within 24-48 hours during the work week (Monday-Friday). Over the weekend, there may be more of a delay, but no later than Monday morning.
Observation of "Netiquette": All your online communications need to be composed with fairness, honesty and tact. Spelling and grammar are very important in an online course. What you put into an Online course reflects on your level of professionalism. Here are a couple of online references that discuss writing Online and netiquette Netiquete rules on Albion.com .
Policy #3: What to do if you experience technical problems or have questions about the Online classroom.
If you experience computer difficulties (need help downloading a browser or plug-in, you need help logging into the course, or if you experience any errors or problems while in your Online course, click on the help button in your CCSF Online course or contact your instructor.
If the issue is preventing you from submitting or completing any coursework, contact your instructor immediately.
Policy #4: Disability Guidelines:
CCSF is committed to meeting the needs of all students that meet the criteria for special assistance. These guidelines are designed to supply directions to students concerning the information necessary to accomplish this goal. It is the CCSFs policy to comply fully with federal and state law, including Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the American with Disabilities Act of 1990, regarding students with disabilities. In the case of any inconsistency between these guidelines and federal and/or state law, the provisions of the law will apply.
If you receive any accommodations from DSPS, please submit your memo to the professor as soon as possible. The professor will discuss with you various options to meet those accommodations, both for the face-to-face portion of the course and the online portion. Please make sure that you submit your memo to the professor with enough time to make any changes before major assignments, such as exams or writing assignments.
