It includes technical freehand sketching; dimensioning; sections and applications of orthographic projection standards in technical documents.

It provides basic knowledge and drawing skills in the area of technical drafting for students interested in pursuing modem design and drafting entry-level positions in engineering and architectural firms. This course is required for the Certificate of Accomplishment in Computer Aided Drafting - CAD, the Certificate of Accomplishment in Computer Aided Design - Architecture, and the Associate in Science for Mechanical Engineering Technology(MET).

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Create freehand sketches including technical lettering and line work.
  • Compose front, top, profile, and sectioned views of three dimensional objects using orthographic projection.
  • Create freehand sketches of isometric and oblique pictorials.
  • Measure scaled lengths on technical drawings with the use of architectural and mechanical engineering scales.
  • Synthesize simple dimensions into orthographic drawings.
