I am excited to have you in my online class in film studies and am looking forward to working with you this upcoming semester. In this introduction I will provide you with a little information to help get you on your way. If you are new to online education first take a look at the ONLINE videos above!
The films for the course are available as streaming resources that are accessible for each module on Canvas with your RAM ID and password. Films may include adult content (profanity, violence, illicit drug use and/or explicit sexual content). Please check with instructor regarding this if you have questions.
This is introductory course that addresses film production and film theory through the critical analysis of motion pictures. The course covers popular and technical approaches to cinema, including filmmaking techniques like directing, cinematography and editing, and visual aesthetics.

IMPORTANT
Please regularly check the “Announcements” page in Canvas regularly throughout the semester. You can receive these by creating Notification Preferences. Any changes to the course outline and up to date information will be made available.
Attendance
Students who fail to log-in to an online class after the first week will be dropped from the course. Students who do not complete the first three modules during the first week of class may be dropped.
Late Policy
In an effort to create a fair, equitable learning context for all students, I will allow a "24-hour late period" for late homework submitted. No late exams are allowed.
Final
The final will be made available in advance of their respective due dates on Canvas.
Grading Policy
See “Grades” in Canvas to keep track of your grades. Please allow up to a week for each module to get your assignments returned.
Final grades will be assigned according to the quality and accuracy of submitted work, participation in discussions and attendance.
A 100-90%
B 89-80%
C 79-70%
D 69-60%
FW
An “FW” grade is given if a student stopped attending a course after the “last day to withdraw” deadline and did not submit any further work. AN FW grade may affect residency and financial aid status.
I - There are no (I) incomplete grades.
