Course Information

Course Description

This section of English 1A +1AS section [number] is fully online and asynchronous, so there are no required live meetings. Students will have access to the Canvas course on the first day of instruction on [date]. There will be a required final exam that will be held on [final exam date].

English 1A + 1AS combines two courses--the college-level coursework of English 1A with the extra learning supports of English 1AS. This course, like all English 1A courses, focuses on college reading, writing, and critical thinking with a major research component. Reading, writing, and research assignments are based predominately on non-fiction texts.

English 1AS is a supplemental course taken in conjunction with English 1A (depending on placement) that provides additional learning supports, which includes access to the CCSF English Lab.

The first two weeks of the semester are very important, and students who fail to login and submit the assignments during the first two weeks are considered "no shows" and will be dropped from the class. I want to support your success in class, so please feel free to contact me if you are having difficulty with the technology or other aspects of the course. I want you to get a good start to the semester, so please let me know your situation as soon as possible to avoid being dropped from the class.

If you decide to discontinue taking the course, make sure you go into your myRAM account and officially drop the class. It is the student's responsibility to officially drop. To get a 100% refund students must drop by [date]. To avoid getting a W (withdrawal) on your record, you will need to drop by [date].
