English 1A + 1AS combines two courses--the college-level coursework of English 1A with the extra learning supports of English 1AS. This course, like all English 1A courses, focuses on college reading, writing, and critical thinking with a major research component. Reading, writing, and research assignments are based predominately on non-fiction texts.
English 1AS is a supplemental course taken in conjunction with English 1A (depending on placement) that provides additional learning supports, which includes access to the CCSF English Lab.
If you are trying to enroll in this section of ENGL 1A + 1AS during the registration period before the start of fall semester, register using the two CRNs (1A-CRN 70662 and 1AS-CRN 70689) that are associated with this section.
If you are trying to enroll in this section of ENGL 1A + 1AS on or after the first of the semester, [date], please come to the classroom in person as soon as possible. You will also need to submit add requests in your myRam account for the two CRNs (1A-CRN 70662 and 1AS-CRN 70689) that are associated with this section. If there are seats available, I will approve your add request and email you at your CCSF email address.
The last day to add is [date].
The first two weeks of the semester are very important, and students who fail to attend classes and submit the assignments during the first two weeks are considered "no shows" and will be dropped. I want to support your success in class, so please feel free to contact me if you are having difficulty attending class or other aspects of the course. I want you to get a good start to the semester, so please let me know your situation as soon as possible to avoid being dropped from the class.
If you decide to discontinue taking the course, make sure you go into your myRAM account and officially drop the class. It is the student's responsibility to officially drop. To get a 100% refund students must drop by [date]. To avoid getting a W (withdrawal) on your record, you will need to drop by [date].
Students seeking disability-related accommodations are encouraged to also register with Disabled Students Programs and Services located in the Rosenberg Library Room 323, phone number (415) 452-5481. Please see the DSPS website for more information and alternate locations.
