I recognize that this is a very stressful time for all of us. Gun violence, racial injustice, and the long-term impact of COVID-19, has added significant stress and trauma to our lives. That stress affects your ability to learn. Give yourself grace as you try your best.
I am here to support you towards your academic success. At the same time, you are here to be challenged and learn new things, and the class will be demanding. I believe in you!
I welcome your questions any time and I'm happy to help you think through your ideas so you can successfully complete an assignment. Sometimes just a five minute conversation in Zoom or on the phone is all you need. Struggle is a natural part of learning, but if you're feeling frustrated that means it is time to reach out for some assistance.
Also! This is a very fast-paced course and it will be demanding. I am here to support you, and also you will need to be very motivated and self-directed to complete all assignments by the deadline. This is our ESL 67 Summer 8-Week Intensive! Let's Go!
Grades will be calculated as follows:
30%: Writing Assignments & Revisions
10%: Grammar Support Assignments
10%: Discussion Posts
10%: Weekly Reflections
20%: Digital Portfolio
20% Commencement Address
There are no Mid-Term or Final Exams.
You will present a Commencement Address live on Week 7 to integrate all the Practical Writing Strategies.
You will create a Digital Portfolio as a final project to showcase all that you have learned.
Grades are a reflection of your learning progress. Each week, you should click on the Grades button in our course navigation and review your scores and my feedback. There are no hidden points in this class. You do the work, show that you've learned by meeting the assignment criteria, and you get points. It's that simple. If something seems not right, reach out and let me know.
