Here are some basics about the course:

  • Chem 40 is a semester long 5 unit course.

  • The course is broken down into three parts per week:

    • 3 hour lecture (online weekly)

    • 1 hour conference (in-person weekly)

    • 3 hour in-person lab (in-person weekly)

  • Expect to spend 8 hours working on course material (homework, reading text, studying) in addition to the weekly hours above. A total of 15 hours per week is the minimum time you are expected to work on this course.

  • This course satisfies a prerequisite for CHEM 101A and CHEM 103A. It also satisfies the chemistry requirement for several College certificates. CCSF GE Area C; CSU GE Area B1 and B3; IGETC Area 5A and 5C.

  • All course materials except for the textbook will be posted here on Canvas. (The course Canvas page will become available to enrolled students once the semester starts).
