BIO 33 is a 16-week introductory science online lecture course. We will focus on biodiversity, the threats to biodiversity from human activities and the practical aspects of conserving species, habitats and ecosystem function. It is designed to fulfill the basic science requirement for CCSF graduation and meets CSU B2 and IGETC 5B.
I will utilize the Learning Management System Canvas to deliver all lectures and assessments. We will have weekly, synchronous discussions. Canvas modules start Monday and end Sunday (I do open the modules early on the Saturday before to allow you flexibility in scheduling your course work). The only required, synchronous attendance is during weekly online discussions on Wednesdays from 6:30-7:00 pm and on designated online exam dates/times. However, during our first class on 9/03, we will meet longer during a required, online, synchronous introductory lecture from 6:10-7:00 pm via zoom (your instructor will email you the link the week before class begins). Each week you will have assignments due. Please review the syllabus and course schedule below for details.
Please contact me through the Canvas Inbox (preferred) or by email at bibit.traut@mail.ccsf.edu. I will check both of these regularly and usually respond within 48 hours during the week and by Monday morning if you email me over the weekend (after 5PM on Friday).

Indigenous communities have lived in and moved through this San Francisco land over hundreds of generations and Indigenous peoples from many nations make their home in this region today. Please join us in recognizing and honoring the ancestors, descendants, elders, and all other members of the Ramaytush, Muwekma and Ohlone peoples.
