Our class is a short course of speaking, listening, reading, and writing English.

In this class, we will learn Beginning level ESL. You will....
- practice daily life conversation and vocabulary
- practice a lot of reading
- use sentences for Lifeskills situations
- use conversational strategies to keep the conversation going
- use your computer to produce and watch videos and audio files.
- do weekly assignments and quizzes.
You are confident in doing the assignments by yourself and following the deadlines.
Class will be 100% online and asynchronous. That means that we will not have weekly or daily Zoom meetings.
From the Catalog: Course Outline Student Learning Outcomes - At the end of this semester, you will.....
A. Identify general meaning and some detail in spoken English on common topics in familiar contexts to participate in simple conversations.
B. Engage in simple conversations in a variety of common social situations.
C. Identify words in familiar contexts using visual clues in short authentic material.
D. Produce sentences related to survival skills and personal topics.
E. Use the language structures and forms appropriate for Beginning High Level 4.

This is a Tentative Weekly Schedule (Tentative means that we may change later).
Every Wednesday - New Module. You get a new lesson on Wednesdays. Please login to check my feedback from the previous week and check the new lesson.
By Saturday - We have Discussions every week. Please post a comment to your classmates by Saturday. Your classmates will also post a comment to your Discussion. Your participation is important!
By Sunday - I will send you my feedback and corrections. You may have to re-do some assignments.
By Tuesday - Finish all the assignments - Readings, Grammar, Vocabulary and Speaking exercises. If you don't finish your assignments, I cannot provide feedback or corrections on time.
Attendance = Participation
Remember that we don't have Zoom meetings. All activities are asynchronous. That means, you do the exercises at your own pace and time, but there will be deadlines for you to submit your assignments.
If you have questions, you can email me or make an appointment. I will be happy to respond to you in 24-48 hours.
The dates of these Zoom sessions will be decided during the semester.

This is a non-credit class. What does it mean as a student? It means that you don't have to worry much about your grades. You can focus 100% on improving your language skills and having a good learning experience with your classmates and instructor.
I would like you to stay in this class until we finish the semester, but I understand that many times students get a job or have more important family responsibilities. If you find the course difficult, please contact me. Let's talk about how you can be successful in this class. You and I can work together! We are a team!
