I am a junior Game Design major at Bradley University, and I'm from St. Louis, Missouri. I enjoy creating stories and world/level designing for video games. I find most of my inspiration for creating game stories from playing campaign-based games, and reading books. I am currently involved in the Bradley STARs, working as a tour guide for Bradley’s Admissions Office. My goal in the Interactive Media field is to practice story writing, as well as develop world/level building skills in Unity and Unreal Engine, so that I can land a job at a game studio working on designing stories, campaigns, and levels for video games.
I chose to study Game Design for one simple reason: I love making games. Growing up, I played games in many forms, either with family and friends, or even by myself. I come from a very competitive family that used to do Family Game Nights every month. My family would compete against each other over a different board game every month, for the reward of a small trophy that we could put in our room. My love of games continued to grow when my parents gave my siblings and I our first video game console, which brought a whole new level of competition to our Family Game Nights. The reason I chose to study Game Design, is so that I can share the love for games that I have had, by creating games that I hope others might enjoy.
I chose to study Creative Writing as a result of my love for campaign-based games and fantasy books. My love for the fantasy genre has been a part of me since grade school, when my family introduced me to a wide range of fantasy books. Later on, specifically during my time in high school, I discovered story driven single-player games. During high school, I found that my schedule became a lot different from my siblings' and my parents'. And as a result of differing schedules, I had no one to play games with at home. My family and friends had realized this, and introduced me to a few single-player games. Over time, I grew to love these games because I became enthralled by the stories they were telling. As a result of this, I have had a desire to create a video game that tells an interesting story.
