‧To realize equal education and provide adequate schooling
‧To inspire mental/physical potentials and assist in appropriate development

‧To enhance occupational training, life-long education and cultivate independent citizens
‧A special class was established in 1986 under directive of the Bureau of Education.
‧A second class was added in 1988.
‧A third class was added in 1991.
‧Due to a lack of students in the second semester of 1994, one of the three classes became a special resource class.
‧In 1997, the special resource class was renamed “handicapped resource class”.
‧Individualized teaching is implemented in small groups according to students' mental/physical characteristics and individual differences, and appropriate development of potentials helps to boost students' ability to adapt to everyday living and the society.
‧Living education is reinforced, various basic living skills, social learning programs and occupational education are taught, and students are returned to normal class if necessary, in order to allow them to adjust to group living.
‧Research on teaching materials and tools for special education is reinforced.
‧Flexible and diversified arrangements meet students' individual needs, allowing them to learn in an environment of the least restrictions.
‧Collaborative teaching combines the efforts of parents, teachers, occupational therapists and lingual therapists.
‧Realization of parent education, provision of information on special education and medical treatment, and organization of special-topic speeches, reinforce tight connection among the school, teachers and families.

‧Chang Chien-mei. Female, special education teacher. Special education division of Taipei Municipal Teachers College. Administrative division, early education department of National Taipei Teachers College. Years of service: 7 years in special education class, 4 years in normal class.
‧Cheng Shu-hsiang. Female, special education teacher. Home economics department of Chinese Culture University. Intellectually deficient children's education division of Taipei Municipal Teachers College. Years of service: 3 years in special education class. 25 years in normal class.
‧Liang Ming-yu (female, assistant teacher): International trading major from National Taipei College of Business. Years of service: 0 years in normal class, 5 years in special education class.
