Hello everyone! My name is Ms. Wilson and I am really excited to be your teacher this year! I went to Adelphi University for both undergrad and graduate school, receiving my Masters’ Degree in Adolescent and Special Education. My favorite part of technology in the classroom is how exponentially it develops. With every invention and breakthrough, the next one is closer and can happen faster as it builds on itself. I especially love how this is used to create equitable experiences for students in the classrooms and for people in life.
My philosophy for teaching is that all students can learn, but must feel comfortable in order to do so. If the brain is unregulated, we don’t have room to take in new information. That is why my classroom is a safe space for all students to be themselves, ask for help, and overall be comfortable as we learn. I will, however, guide my students in challenging their comfort zones, making new friends, doing their best, and learning new things, all without pushing too far or being too harsh. We will learn through active participation and involvement, not through memorization! I am open to accommodating my students, meeting them where they are and taking them even further.
