My name is Shelly, and I am in my second year of teaching in a high school setting, where I serve as both a Global History and ELA teacher. I work with a diverse group of students and am currently placed at FDNY High School. In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I serve as the advisor for student government, which has allowed me to build strong, meaningful relationships with students beyond the classroom and support student leadership and voice.
My interest in technology is rooted in its ability to enhance student engagement, organization, and accessibility in the classroom. I am particularly interested in using technology to support differentiated instruction, promote collaboration, and provide students with multiple ways to demonstrate their learning. I also view technology as a valuable tool for fostering inclusive learning environments and preparing students with essential skills for an increasingly digital world.
My mission is to create a classroom that celebrates differences, encourages independence, and promotes confidence. I believe in meeting students where they are, honoring their strengths, and helping them grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Together, we build a learning environment rooted in respect, patience, and high expectations.
