Hello Families! My name is Ms. Louallen. I have received a Master's of Education from Adelphi University. I am passionate about teaching, and I have always been! My students are very important to me and their success means the world!
During my time as a student (K-12), I attended schools with diverse student populations but not diverse faculty populations. Teaching in diverse communities is something very important to me because all students should feel represented and seen by the people in their schools. During my teaching career, I hope to be a role-model for students, foster a positive classroom environment, and gain experience with many learners with diverse learning needs.
Technology is a prominent tool in my life that I have watched evolve from childhood to adulthood. Because of this, it plays a role in who I am as an educator and in who I am as a person. Technology positively impacts my teaching philosophy of creating a student-centered learning environment where students can cultivate a growth mindset. Today, it is important to adapt and meet students where they are in regard to technology, but it is also important to use traditional methods of learning as well. Meshing the two creates a balance for both the teacher and student. I am particularly interested in music, accessibility, games, and connection when it comes to technology. It can make these things easier and more convenient, and even add a completely new element for students to enjoy.
