Matt Rainis, pictured on the left, is a passionate and creative teacher at the Academy of Urban Planning and Engineering in Bushwick.
He's a bit of a jack-of-all-trades as a teacher, having taught everything from ELA to Biology and from Economics to Algebra I. Mr. Rainis prides himself on his good relationships with all of his students; he believes that getting to know each and every one of his pupils on a personal level is a key to figuring out how best to teach them. He believes that making lessons engaging and keeping it light in the classroom can help to make school a more fruitful experience for all involved!
Mr. Rainis grew up on Long Island (boo!) and went to Stony Brook University undergrad and received his master's degree in education at Adelphi University.
Outside of the classroom, Mr. Rainis enjoys watching more movies than a normal person does, supporting doomed sports franchises, and writing novels and pilot scripts that nobody will ever read.
He can be contacted at mrainis@schools.nyc.org if you have questions, concerns, or just want to say "hi!" (which would be weird, but hey, it's your time on earth).
