Hello!
Welcome to my space for all things teaching and learning! My name is Tina Tudisco and I am so glad to have you here! I am an alumna of Adelphi University in Garden City, New York with a Master's degree in Childhood Education, a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, and an Advanced Certificate in Early Childhood Education. I graduated on May 23, 2022, received my Childhood and TESOL certifications on June 1, 2022, and my certification in Early Childhood on October 26, 2022.
Throughout my academic career and as I begin to enter the field of teaching, I have always been a lively, positive, and eager learner. I am committed to the pursuit of excellence, both for myself and for the learners I serve. I am consistently involved with research, as has been a constant throughout my academic career, which I believe is an integral part of being a contemporary educator and a contributing member of a global society. With determination and initiative, I took the opportunity during my graduate year in the AU Scholar Teacher Education Program to partake in a rigorous, full-time student teaching Residency in the Mineola UFSD. This Residency program immersed me in the daily life of an Elementary Teacher in terms of planning, instruction, professional development, collaboration with other teachers, and related facets of the profession. I had the pleasure of working alongside mentors in 2nd and 4th grade Dual Language (English/Spanish). Within these placements, I got to learn and apply best practices from my Adelphi coursework, my participant-observer experiences, and my mentors' advice/instruction.
I have had many experiences in a variety of classrooms and communities through Adelphi partnerships and my own work/volunteer experiences. This includes working with learners as a participant-observer in the DOE at PS/MS 147 Ronald McNair in Cambria Heights, Queens, as well as on Long Island in the Roosevelt UFSD, Franklin Square UFSD, and West Hempstead UFSD. I also continue to serve my home district, the WHUFSD, as a per diem Substitute Teacher and formerly as a Choreographer. The latter experience combines my greatest passions: education, working with children, giving back to my community, and dance. Additionally, I have had the privilege of serving learners as an Enrichment Teacher through SCOPE Education Services, engaging with another one of my passions: cooking.
From the moment I could understand what it meant to have a career, I have wanted to be a teacher. I can remember bringing in worksheets to teach my class a multiplication lesson on Career Day in 3rd grade. I can also remember taking them home that day to grade with a Magic Marker. I grew up in a family of educators, my mother being an N-12 educator herself, so it felt natural when I began my teacher preparation program. I draw inspiration from my family as well as the wonderful teachers I have had the pleasure of learning alongside in my own academic career at West Hempstead as well as my teacher preparation program through Adelphi University and the Mineola UFSD.
