Mahwah Public Schools are well-maintained, but the time has come for us to replace and upgrade the systems and structures that keep our schools running.

Proposed improvements would benefit all six schools in the district. State aid, which is available with voter approval, would offset the project costs.

PROJECT BREAKDOWN BY BUILDING

MAHWAH HIGH SCHOOL

Question 1:

Upgrade roofing and HVAC systems to boost efficiency and reduce the need for costly emergency repairs
Replace aluminum sliders to improve functionality and energy efficiency
Replace boilers that are at or near the end of their useful life

Question 2:

Refurbish/renovate auditorium, including the original seating from the 1950s, to enhance student and community experience
Replace stadium field turf that is at the end of its useful life and add turf to a second field with athletic field lighting to better serve students and the community
Update existing field lighting with LED lighting
Build a new, second gym to better serve students and the community

RAMAPO RIDGE

Question 1

Upgrade roofing and HVAC systems to boost efficiency and reduce the need for costly emergency repairs
Repair exterior brickwork to maintain and preserve the building
Replace bleachers in gym

Question 2

Add turf to soccer field with athletic field lighting to better serve students and the community

BETSY ROSS

Question 1:

Upgrade and recoat sections of roofing and replace HVAC systems to boost efficiency and reduce the risk for leaks
Replace four boilers that are at or near the end of their useful life
Repoint exterior brickwork to maintain and preserve the building

Build a new gym, media center and music room to better serve the students and community

Apply new coating to roof to reduce the risk for leaks and extend roof warranty
Replace selected windows and four boilers to boost efficiency
Replace kitchen hood
Repoint exterior brickwork to maintain and preserve the building

Question 1:

Apply new coating to roof to reduce the risk for leaks and extend roof warranty
Replace glazing/gasketing on windows to reduce degradation of window system
Upgrade temperature controls to improve efficiency

Replace selected windows and doors to enhance security and efficiency

Create a designated space for the 18-21-year-old special needs program to help students build life skills
