Bethany Centre is a place of healing and renewal for catholic priests, religious men and women, missionaries ministering in Africa.
It is a place for each one to begin to live in the present moment and to embrace one's existence and care for one's wholeness.
Ideally located in the Masaï mountains of Kenya, it offers an amazing environment and professional people to help your process to one's integral humanity.
Given to us by the General Chapter of the Society of the Missionaries of Africa, the first and most important dimension of our mission is to care for priests and religious men and women who are struggling with difficulties in their personal life and ministry. The second dimension is to bring to them a care that addresses the person with an integral approach (psyche, soul and body).
Finally, the most important dimension is to help them to return to their vocation and ministry stronger, better equipped, and at peace with themselves and their own history.
Ideally located in the Masai Mountains in the diocese of Ngong, Bethany Centre is just about an 1hr 1/2 from Nairobi. The natural scenery and environment are amazing and enable a vast space for contemplation and introspection. Everything around teaches about God's grace.
Our vision is rooted in the Gospel and in contemplating the life of Christ who never refuses his help to those in need. Bethany in Jesus's life, was a place of rest, friendship and new life. We hope our Bethany Centre can be that for those we are welcoming. We believe that each person is entitled to received the help he or she may need for the healing of their life's history and be the best they can at ministering to others. We believe that each person must have an opportunity to be helped in the most difficult times of their existence.
Our values our rooted in deep spiritual experience, sustained by a life of prayer. We value also what human sciences and especially psychology can bring to help to come to a sense of appeasement and closure with the challenges of one's existence. We believe in fostering skills that enable a person to face future challenges with peace and determination.
Our programmes addresses different issues from addiction post-rehabilitation consolidation, mental health attention (anxiety disorder, depression, burn out,, compassion fatigue...), and vocational challenges. Our programmes are normally taking place over a period of 12 weeks, which can be done within the frame-time of a tourist visa in Kenya. Due to renovations in the house our next programme will be in Spring 2024 (from the March 1st, 2024 to May 24th, 2024).
