There will be 14 units of the Level 3 Fundations program. Fundations is a multi-sensory phonics, spelling, and handwriting program. Students will also be learning cursive this year within the Fundations program.

Unit 1: closed syllable, exceptions to closed syllable, ck and tch spelling, glued sounds
Unit 2: Review suffixes, irregular plurals, 1-1-1 spelling rule
Unit 3: vowel-consonant-e syllables, spelling multisyllabic words
Unit 4: "ve" at the end of a word, ive as a suffix, silent e spelling rule
Unit 5: identifying schwa, -et spelling at the end of words, dictionary skills
Unit 6: open syllables, y as a vowel, soft c, soft g
Unit 7: pluralizing words ending in y and o, y and suffix spelling rule
Unit 8: consonant -le, consonant -le exception, tion/sion
Unit 9: r-controlled syllables, r-controlled syllable exceptions, war and wor, -ward and -or as a suffix
Unit 10: Double vowels, adding suffixes to double vowels, additional sounds: eigh, oo, ei, ea, igh, ui
Unit 11: contractions
Unit 12: dge after a short vowel, silent spelling rule after soft c and g
Unit 13: ch and ph, silent letters: wr, rh, gn, kn, mn, mb, gh
Unit 14: ture and tu, ci and ti, advanced suffix endings: -ous, -al, -ent, -an
