Virtual Course Offerings

Our virtual courses are broken into two groups, introduction and advanced. Introduction courses are recommended for students entering 4th through 7th grade, or students with some or no prior experience with course content. Advanced Courses are reccomend for 7th through 12th grade for the 2021-2022 school year, or students with some understandings and prior experience with course content.

Students will access topic-specific courses through a unique virtual portal that provides meeting links, any needed resources, and easy access to their virtual instructor. AM and PM courses have been paired week to week with similar topics, but are unique to offer success and engagement for students who attend either half-day or full-day programs. Reoccurring virtual courses from week to week cover similar skills and topics with unique challenges.

Introduction to Robotics Programming

Robots do everything from building our cars and toys to delivering our Amazon orders and searching for danger to keep our soldiers safe. To do this, robots need computer programmers like you! This computer science course challenges students to program robots using blocked-based code in virtual simulations that reflect real-world obstacles that actual robots face. Sample challenges include navigating robots autonomously through challenging courses that humans could never accomplish!

This course is available virtually during Weeks 1, 3, & 5

Advanced Robotics Programming

Introduction to 3D Design Through Tinkercad

Did you ever wonder how the stuff we buy is made? Who designed it? Who made it? In this course, you become the maker through the use of computer design. This engineering design course challenges students to use the Tinkercad design program to create unique 3D models and worlds. Sample projects include tinker toys, architectural design, improving lives at home, life in space, creating a zoo, prototypes for our pets, and much more!

This course is available virtually during Weeks 1, 3, & 5

Advanced 3D Design through Onshape

Did you ever wonder how the stuff we buy is made? Who designed it? Who made it? In this course, you become the maker through the use of computer design. This advanced engineering design course challenges students to use the professional Onshape program to create unique 3D models and simulations. Sample projects include: movie props, life in space, improving lives at home, tech accessories, prototypes for our pets, and much more!

This course is available virtually during Weeks 1, 3, & 5

Introduction to Coding & Game Design

Have you ever dreamt of creating your own application, animation or video game? Have you ever wondered how applications and video games are made? In this course, you will experience the world of a computer programmer! This computer science course challenges students to create their own programs using blocked-based code in the Scratch programming language. Sample projects include: animations, character interactions, real-world applications, classic game design, and much more!

This course is available virtually during Weeks 2, 4, & 6

Advanced Coding & Game Design

Have you ever dreamt of creating your own video game, or working for a video game company? Have you ever wondered how video games are made? Who designs characters? Experience the world of video game design this summer through the creation of your very own game or application using an advanced Javascript programming language! This advanced computer science course challenges students to design and program their own video games or applications using a script-based programming language. Sample projects include creating a unique, classic-inspired animated video game!

This course is available virtually during Weeks 2, 4, & 6

Introduction to Graphic Design

Design is all around us in the ads we see, the photos we take, products we buy, even the emojis in our messages. But who makes these things? Do you have an eye for design? This graphic design course challenges students to take photos, create digital artwork, logos, advertisements, or branding in introductory design software. Sample projects include: photography techniques, digital photo editing, advertisement design, logo creation, apparel, fashion, merch, and much more!

This course is available virtually during Weeks 2, 4, & 6

Advanced Graphic Design
