Course offerings for Group 4

Group 4 is recommended for students entering 9th through 12th grade for the 2021-2022 school year, or students with some understandings and prior experience with course content.

Pulled from industry-standards, Group 4 courses are geared to prepare students for higher level topics and their future careers. With both topic-specific and hands-on courses, students attending either half-day or full-day programs will be challenged to design, create, and test real-world solutions from their own imagination. Each week of Group 4 courses will offer unique challenges and themes for students who attend more than a single week.

Advanced Electronics & Robotics Systems

In today’s advanced world, we rely on technology for just about everything. Who makes this technology? How can a phone control the lights in a room? Or a TV? Experience this world not from the eyes of the consumer, but the hands of the maker through computer programming and manufacturing digital electronics. Learn to design, program, and build your own custom products by using professional tools like soldering irons, computer milling machines, and javascript programming languages. Become a designer who creates electronic products that solve the problems in your life!

This course is available during Weeks 1 & 4

Advanced Video Game Design through Java

Have you ever dreamt of creating your own video game, or working for a video game company? Have you ever wondered how video games are made? Who designs characters? Experience the world of video game design this summer through the creation of your very own classic game using an advanced Javascript programming language. By combining code with the industry standard graphic design software, design your own characters, create challenging levels, and even rewards and perks for your users in a unique gaming experience!

This course is available during Weeks 2 & 5

Advanced Rapid Prototyping & Product Design

Where do all of the products that we see online and in stores come from? Who makes them? How do they end up on our doorstep? In this course, you become the designer as you use the same techniques, software, and machines as the professionals to design a product of your own. With unlimited access to 3D printers, lasers, mold making machines, and more, craft your product, build a brand around it, and share it with the world!

Innovation & Invention in Marine Biology

Marine Biologists study aquatic life and our underwater ecosystems. During the Marine Biology week, we will develop solutions to solve programs in the field like cleaning up our oceans or traveling underwater! In Innovation and Invention, you will be able to experience the world through the eyes of an designer, innovator, scientist, or engineer. Innovation & Invention in Computer Science

Computer Science is now intertwined in nearly every aspect of our everyday lives. From the way we communicate, to our appliances or stuff around the house. In the Computer Science week, combine code, product design, and fabrication, to develop prototypes that enhance the way we live! Innovation & Invention in Biotechnology

Biotechnology merges our natural biological world with modern man-made innovation and technology. This crucial field has give us new medicine, artificial limbs, and crops that resist challenging climate! During the Biotechnology week, we will be creating functioning, adaptive, and affordable prosthetics that can make a difference for those in need! In our Technology week, your the inventor of your own creation as we combine prototyping methods and design to fabricate technology that we can use everyday! Innovation & Invention in AEROSPACE Engineering
