English I, II, III and IV
English I Honors focuses on the study of genre. Students are introduced to a rigorous analysis of short stories, the epic, poetry, drama, novels and essays.
English II Honors (World Lit): With the idea of culture at its base, the class is exposed to Magical Realism from Central and South America, Things Fall Apart from Nigeria, Into Thin Air from the Himalayan region, and Night from Germany.
English III Honors (American Lit): My class is structured by units, including Transcendentalism, Appalachian Lit, Gothic Lit and the Melting Pot of American culture.
English IV Honors (British Lit): I organize this class with an eye to the Development of the English Language. Students read stories from Old English (Beowulf and Grendel), Middle English (Canterbury Tales), Early Modern English (Shakespeare), and Late Modern English (poetry and short stories).
