I'm Mrs. Smith, and I am thrilled to be your teacher at Madison Traditionally Academy. Originally from the beautiful landscapes of Northern Colorado, I spent my entire life there until my recent move to the (hot!) Phoenix area in May 2023. When we began our move to Arizona, almost everyone I spoke to about schools in the area raved about the Madison Elementary School District. After some research and my interview for the position, I knew I had found my new work home. I cherish my roots, but I'm excited for this new chapter in my life and career.

From 2012 to 2018, I dedicated my career to teaching high school mathematics. Following this experience, I transitioned into the role of instructional coach at the same high school, where I had the opportunity to mentor and support fellow educators in refining their teaching practices. In 2020, I broadened my focus as an Instructional Technologist within the technology department. This role allowed me to collaborate closely with instructional coaches, leveraging technology to enhance instruction across all grade levels. Through this journey, I've gained invaluable insights from observing expert teachers and have continuously expanded my own knowledge through professional development opportunities. I am now thrilled to apply this professional growth back in the classroom.

Parents and guardians are invaluable partners in a student's education. I believe in fostering open communication with families, providing regular updates on student progress and actively seeking their input. Building strong relationships with both students and parents is essential to creating a supportive learning environment. By working collaboratively, we can nurture student growth and success.
