Summer Slump Busters for 1st to 2nd Graders

*Reading-  Please continue to use their class accounts for Lexia.

*Reading Fluency-  If your child is not reading about 100 words per minute, I strongly recommend doing the reading fluency practice.  It only takes a couple of minutes a day, but can really make a difference.  Parent Note for Fluency Letter

*Writing-  Each question is a link to the Wonderopolis website where students can research an interesting question.  They should first write a hypothesis and then use the link to explore the topic. They can then write about how their hypothesis compares to the facts.

*Math-  Please continue to use any class accounts from 1st grade.  Fact fluency is critical.  Your child should have addition and subtraction facts memorized.  If these are mastered, move on to multiplication and division.  The Resources to Support Learning page has additional math practice links courtesy of Mrs. Henrikson.  Students can also continue their lessons at Khan Academy.
