The MYP aims to help students develop their personal understanding, their emerging sense of self and their developmentally appropriate responsibility in their community
According to IB From Principles to Practice guide:
Through their engagement with Service as Action, MYP students should, achieve the following:
1. Become more aware of their strengths and areas for growth
2. Undertake challenges that develop new skills
3. Discuss, evaluate and plan student-initiated activities
4. Persevere in action
5. Work collaboratively with others
6. Awareness and understanding of culture, intercultural understanding and international mindedness
7. Consider the ethical implications of their actions
The Community Project is completed by all 8th graders, MYP Year 3. The project takes the place of community service.
The Community Project gives students the opportunity to work in an area of the community that interests them and allows students to give back, showing awareness of the world around them.
The Community Project is a culmination of the Middle Years Program at Meadows. Students are able to show off the Approaches to Learning skills they have developed during their time at Meadows.
