Partner Warmup #6

Here's a fun little warmup song students learned for the concert. It is a 'counter melody' song. In other words, there will be 2 melodies sung at the same time.

I Think I'll Think Twice

Just a fun little song about consequences. Some students will be performing solos for this song, and other students will be playing AIR GUITAR! Remember Raccoons, the choices you make today shape your world tomorrow!

Drum Circle - Groove Tune

Some students volunteered to play a collection of drum rhythms and sounds for you that we learned this year in music class. The rhythms include Beledi from north Africa & the Middle East, Cumbia from Columbia, and many other fun drum sounds.

There is More Love Somewhere

This song is an African American spiritual in honor of Black History Month which was in February. It talks about FINDING love, hope, peace and joy when you don't have them.

I've Got Peace Like a River

Another spiritual in honor of Black History Month, this song talks about HAVING peace, love and joy. Some 4th grade students will be performing this song on recorder for you.

Tongo

Tongo is a Polynesian folk song we are doing in honor of Asian American Pacific Islander Month. It is a work song used on fishing boats. Some think it was originally writing to be sung between those on the boats and those on shore. Students have been assigned either the Call or the Response to this song.

Tama Tu

Tama Tu is another Polynesian folk song, and it is popular in New Zealand. The Maori people are the indigenous people of New Zealand. The chorus of Tama Tu is a Maori proverb that translates to mean, "he who stands, lives; he who sits, suffers."

Music Is Always There

Our final song is another fun song about music. This song has a strong melody, but you'll notice some students adding a harmony part to the 2nd half of the song.
