This is my ninth year teaching at JMM.
Prior to joining the staff at Memorial, I taught High School and Middle School educator in Minnesota and South Dakota, teaching primarily American History and Geography.
In 2009, I finished a Master's Degree in Political Science from UW-Madison where I taught courses in Political Theory, Law, Politics & Society, First Amendment, and Criminal Law. I also taught American Government and State and Local Government courses at MATC.
I am originally from Roseville, MN in the Twin Cities area. I received undergraduate degrees in Government & International Affairs, Social Studies Teaching, and Secondary Education from Augustana University in Sioux Falls, SD.
For the past ten years, I have helped coach the Forensics team at JMM. Any students who have a desire to improve their speaking skills, a love of acting, or a passion for competition should join.
I also coach Girls Tennis at Memorial, serve as Chair of the Social Studies Department, and advise the Spartan Leaders group.
In 2017, I was honored to receive the Wisconsin Council for the Social Studies Distinguished Teacher of the Year. I was also recognized for my innovative use of digital media in the classroom by PBS. I am proud to be the PBS Digital Innovator from the state of Wisconsin. I also share my passion for civic education with other educators as part of the iCivics Educator Network and I serve on the Teacher Advisory Board of the National Constitution Center.
