What clubs are available?

Most clubs begin in mid-September or early October, and all after-school activities end for the year in May. Clubs vary from year to year based on student interest and the availability of leaders. The club schedule is not set until teachers return in the fall and will change throughout the year. Check out the weekly schedule for the most up-to-date information on what clubs are available. 

How do I join a club?

If you want to join a club, you should:

·       Coordinate transportation with your guardian

·       Check the schedule for where and when it meets

·       Show up for the club

Most Clubs are free and are drop-in and done by 5:45

Most clubs meet one day a week on a set day

Join as many clubs as you want!

Do we have a ____ club?

Check the club schedule. All active clubs will be on the calendar.  If you don’t see it, it isn’t currently offered.  The club schedule is posted in the schedule tab and on HTV.

What if I want to start a club?

1. Fill out the club request form (available in the MSCR Google Classroom)

2. Forms will be reviewed by Hamilton MSCR staff about available staffing and feasibility

3. If the club is feasible and we can find a staff member to lead it, the club will be added to the MSCR club schedule

Can I get a ride home after my activity?

MSCR is working with First Student Bus to coordinate transportation for our after-school program. However, due to ongoing driver shortages, MSCR cannot provide transportation home after clubs or recreation. If lack of transportation prevents you from participating in clubs, have your parent or guardian contact Ms. Nese.

Are we going to have a ____ sports team this year?

Intramural sports with a set season, practices, and competitions depend on student interest and the availability of coaches. I don’t know if we have a team until we are able to find a coach for that particular sport. 

What’s the difference between (name your sport) club and the (name your sport) team? 

Sports teams require you to sign up and have a combination of practices and competitions. Clubs are drop in and don’t compete against other schools. 

What is Rec, and how do I join?

Open Rec, short for recreation, happens after clubs (5:15-6:00). The start date depends on staffing and varies year to year, but Rec will not start before the end of September. When staffing is available, we will offer recreation Monday through Thursday. 

If you want to join Rec, you should:

·       Make sure it is on the schedule

·       Coordinate transportation with your guardian

·       Go to a club right after school

·       Meet by the gym after clubs are done

I don’t see a club I like, but I want to stay for Rec.  Can I go to a friend’s house or wait by the entryway and return when it is time for Rec? 

No, you need to be in a club or working with a teacher during club time (4:15-5:15) and be able to stay for Rec (5:15-6:00)
