Mrs. Wanzong as a second grader.

My name is Mrs. Darcy Wanzong, and I think it is important for you to know a little bit about me as a person and my beliefs as an educator.

I have been teaching since 1983 and have been at Shorewood Hills Elementary School since 1985. In 2001, I received a Master's Degree in Curriculum Instruction. Prior to that, I received my undergraduate degree in 1983 from the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire. My husband and I then moved to Madison and have been residents ever since. My husband is a computer professional, and we have two daughters that we are very proud of. I love spending time with my family, reading, scrap booking, walking/hiking, going to the mountains, watching sunsets, and listening to music.

I am very fortunate to work and teach in a wonderful school environment. My beliefs are based on a commitment to the children that I work with and my profession as a whole. Children will become responsible and accountable for their own learning. It is a child's right to succeed, and it is my responsibility to help all children reach their full potential.

In this learning environment, children are highly revered, loved, respected and become part of a family at school. Learning is enjoyable, meaningful, motivating, and engaging. I have high expectations for all children, and they will gain important fundamental skills that will be useful forever.

We work hard, learn, and laugh in Room 120. I believe open communication is important between home and school. If you have any questions, concerns, or comments, please contact me at your convenience. The 2018-2019 school year is going to be a wonderful thing!
