A Peek at our Week (February 24-27 , 2020)

Math

In math we finished our unit about two dimensional shapes and started our next unit about three dimensional shapes. We have been discussing the similarities and differences of two and three dimensional shapes. We sorted two and three dimensional shapes.

Shared Reading

For shared reading this week we read Ana and Her Bike. We talked about our connections to the text and wrote about ourselves or someone else riding a bike. We are also working on attending to punctuation and changing our voices to match the punctuation.

Phonics

Kindergarteners are exploring how we can change words by changing one letter, map→tap, rag→rat. We are continuing to practice rhyming words as well as slowly tapping out each sound we hear in a word.

Writing

For writing we continued our narrative writing unit with writing stories about ourselves. We wrote about what makes us unique and what we like about ourselves.

Important upcoming dates:

  • March 2 District Wide Enrollment for Kindergarten students new to the district and all 4K students for the 2020-21 school year, 2:00 – 6:00 pm

Message from the Principal

Dear Families,

During the month of February students will be getting Scholar Tickets for “walking feet” in the hallway. We are focused on creating safe hallways, especially during our biggest transitions: arrival and dismissal. Ask your child if their class earned a scholar celebration with their tickets!

Ms. Cutler
